The Orthodontic Practice, Liverpool

The Orthodontic Practice was established on Rodney Street in 1947 by Harold Watkin who was a leading light in orthodontics. It was one of only 3 Orthodontic practices in the country.

In 1933 Harold Watkin was appointed President of the British Society for the Study of Orthodontics and was well known for his pioneering research into the engineering of fixed braces.

Sadly, Dr Watkin passed away in 1965 at the age of 83 after seeing a full list of patients the day before. The building was renamed Watkin House in his memory. Dr E. J. S. Clifford, Harold Watkin’s business partner at the time of his passing, then took over the lease.  He and Dr Bryan Birkinhead continued the practice’s excellent reputation for many years which was then continued by Dr Chris Woodier and Dr Tim Martin.

In April 2022, the practice started a new exciting chapter with Dr Sujana Chava who continues to build on the practice’s excellent reputation.
